Cookware Calphalon
Cooking is an integral part of our lives. And over the years the amount of cooking utensils and pots and pans we get through must be a huge amount. I know that I always seem to be buying new frying pans or knifes and forks, and even more so saucepans and kettles. I have no idea why I get through them so quickly, maybe it is because I use too many every time I bake, or maybe it is because I am too heavy handed with them. So I thought this time I would invest in a decent set of Cookware. Browsing around on the Internet, I came across something called Calphalon cookware.
After reading about it, I was suitably impressed enough to order a set of saucepans. So far they haven't let me down. In the old days I was quite happy to just use non stick cheap pans. These were great to start with but after a couple of months they all seemed to crack or peel. Calphalon Cookware is different. Take, for example the Calphalon Unison Nonstick pan. it is constructed of heavy gauge, hard anodize aluminium and a 3 layer proprietary Sear non stick and Slide non stick interior. Now I have no idea what this actually means in scientific terms, but believe me when I say that it is good! Very good.
The story of Calphalon
Back in 1963, a man named Ronald Kasperzak bought a small company in Ohio. The company specialised in a range of aluminium products. Kasperzak at that time loved fine food, good wines and great entertainment. And being such a lover of food he decided that his future would be in the manufacture of cooking implements. Aiming at the market in commercial food service industry, he seemed to have hit the nail on the head. He realised that cookware was sorely lacking. So he aimed to produce good quality cookware. He went from strength to strength and within 10 years was the second largest supplier to restaurants. But then came his great idea that if he started to use the new aerospace and architectural technology which entailed using an electrochemical process called hard anodizing, this would give the aluminium a uniquely durable surface. Clever eh? Not only did this make it harder than stainless steel, it would also produce high conductivity and make the heating a lot more even.
The name Calphalon started in 1977 after changing it from Home Cooks. Always being one step ahead, Calphalon saw where there future lie. And since then they have produced thousands of kitchen items.
A great variety of Cookware
There is one thing that I like when buying any sort of cookware. Whether it be pots and pans, or even a good quality baking dish. I like to stick to the same make. I have tried mixing and matching over the years and sometimes I have been lucky enough to get a good quality casserole dish, but have been disappointed with a Stir fry. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to cook a great meal for guests and finding that half of the food has got stuck to the bottom of the pan! Now I am not saying that sometimes it is all the fault of the cooking implement. I must admit to not being that great a cook! But I think that after 30 years of cooking, I do know more or less how to cook most things. The trouble is that if you buy anything for the kitchen, you must try and get good quality goods. One of the most common and dangerous things that have happened to me in the past has been that the handle of the pan has actually come of in my hand when cooking! Can you imagine how that turned out? Holding a pan and transferring the food to the dinner plates, and then without warning the handle just dropped off! So now I make sure that even if I have to spend a little bit more, I do it for my own peace of mind.
Cutlery
Calphalon also do a great range of cutlery. Whether you are wanting a Knife block set, or just a single Kitchen knife, each come with the hardened high carbon no stain German steel. These knifes and scissors are also much easier to sharpen. And not only that, they last much, much longer than ordinary knifes. The quality is such that the price is well worth it. How many knifes would you need to buy ordinarily compared to one of these? Another great thing is that they are also rust resistant, and keep free from stains and discoloration. Can't get better than that! I have spent many a boring hour stuck at the kitchen sink trying my hardest to get my knifes forks and scissors clean! This will certainly save on time, and is also much more hygienic. I will definitely be buying all my cookware from Calphalon in the future, I believe I have discovered the best out there on the market today. And I am sticking to it!

This is definitely a range of products we will be investing in. We are sick of non-stick pans and saucepans that peel after only a couple of months no matter how much you spend on them. Thank you for bringing these to our attention.
Amazing..... I had never heard about this cookware. I'll show this to my mom. I believe she'll like this information. I wish I can buy this stuff for her. Thank you very much for writing and share this with us. Rated up!
Prasetio:)
I thought the whole idea was "not to stick to it" (joke).
They do look really good, especially the cutlery.
Thanks Nell.
Hello Nell:
I have a few pieces of Calphalon and I do appreciate them. Now I can think about the history as I make an omlette in my non-stick pan. :)

Great hub Nell.
I do not have any of these but who knows now and if I do buy any I can say "Well Nell Rose told me all about these."

Eiddwen.
You need a good pan for the perfect dish.Great hub Nell how do you do it.Look forward to your next one.
Hi, Peggy I am not one for cooking really! lol but I got so fed up throwing away saucepans every few months because they broke or scratched, so I though I would give these a try, thanks for reading, cheers nell
Hi, Spirit, so far so good! I can totally recommend them, thanks as always nell

Hi, Fay, I had never heard of them before, but I like a bit of scientific chemistry added to the mix to make them good! lol cheers nell
Hi, Eiddwen, thanks for reading it, they say you should write about what you know, and believe me I know when a handle falls off a saucepan! ha ha cheers nell
Hi, cangetther, thanks for reading it, I just keep trying to find different things that work! sometimes its good and other times, well! lol cheers nell
Hello Nell, This is a new brand to me, but if it will last over time, i might invest. My nonstick cookware tends to peel after a short time. Thank's for sharing.
Cheers
Good information Nell, I have to admit that I haven't heard of it before but your article will stick with me next time I shop for pans. I have some real cheap non-stick and good stainless. The non-stick is so much nicer to work with.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Calphalon cookware Nell. I'll keep it in mind the next time I buy new cookwares.
I ADORE Calphalon! I use it almost exclusively. I've been a cookware nut most of my life, but since I've had Calphalon, I want or need no other. It is truly amazing, incomparable stuff.
Calphalon is giving aluminum hybrid cookware a good name! I inherited a similar type of cookware, the "original" Magnalite (no longer available) and swear by it. No more hanging around the stove, having to stir the pot every few minutes. With really good cookware that conducts the heat, you really don't need non-stick. It lasts longer too :) Great Hub! Cheers.
Hi, sorry it took me so long to answer! thanks everyone for reading, even I can cook with this! ha ha cheers nell
Hahaha, that's the right idea, Nell. :)
Always wondered if Calphalon was really as good as they say, now I know. Great, informative hub. Voted up.
Hi, Qudsia thanks! lol glad you liked it!
Hi, tillsontitan, thanks I am glad it was helpful, cheers nell
Very useful. When I am in need of a set of pans, I will definitely remember this hub. Up and bookmarked! : )
Thanks shygirl!

That is certainly a good brand of cookware. Like you, we have tried many different brands through the years and while it may be more of an expense upfront, often quality pays for itself in the long run.
