Google Books - Books Magazines and ebooks, from Modern and Classics to collectors Editions. What a Treat!
73Google Books what a Great Site!
I love reading all sorts of books and I am always on the lookout for the next best seller to read. So when I was browsing the Internet today I came across Google Books. How on earth did I miss that? What a great site! Not only do they have all sorts of books written by modern authors, they have lists of classic books, religion, philosophy and photography! And don't forget the magazines. There are also a few ebooks that you can just click on the picture and start reading! No downloading this or that, or pay so much etc. But I haven't got to the best bit yet! On Google Books the covers are large so that you can see what you are looking at instead of trying to squint at the print to see what it says.
But the best is yet to come. You can open the book and read near enough the whole thing! I have just spent a very happy hour reading a 'preview' of a great book titled 90 Minutes In Heaven by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey. It is a true story about a man who has a life changing experience after a serious car crash, which changes his life forever. Not only because of his injuries, but because in that 90 minutes whilst trapped in the car, his soul went to Heaven!
Google Books
A Taster? More like a Feast!
I sat engrossed whilst reading at least four chapters of this intriguing, fantastic book. Google Books are not like other sites where you buy a book on the assumption that you are going to like it. Or are already familiar with the story. No, this is much, much better. It allows you to read so many snippets and chapters that there is no way you will not buy the book. I was engrossed, fascinated and now can't wait to receive my book through the post.
The other great thing about Google Books is that it gives you the list of shops or online sites that you can buy the book of your choice from. And of course the link, straight to the page. I am never going to use anything else from now on! It takes you straight to Amazon and loads more stores.
Magazines
Magazines too!
And of course if you love reading magazines, then there are a great selection on Google Books to read and buy. And you can click on the front cover of the magazine and see what's inside! I love this site, I have sat here for hours just clicking on this and that. From Time magazine, to Boy's Life. And there's loads of others too.
BACK COPIES GREAT FOR COLLECTORS! GO BACK IN TIME TO THE 40s 50s AND 60S!
But the one thing I loved about the magazine section was the fact that they sell back copies. Not just recent ones but as far back as you want to go! I was browsing through a 1949 science mag! How cool is that?
The great thing about it, is if you are a collector of old magazines, then this is the one for you. Just key in the name or date of the magazine and see if it is there. I am going to spend hours looking through this section! I love all the old magazines. Can you imagine finding a mag that you read when you were younger? How fantastic is that? Great for collectors as well as anybody who is curious to see what was going on back in the day! I will say it again. Fantastic!
The other good thing about it is that the magazines and books keep changing while you are browsing them. It shows each and every one in order, so if you can't find the one you like when you first log in, then just keep looking, it will pop up! And of course you can search for it too.
What more can I say? I love it!
Google Book Classics
Classics
As you can probably tell, I am a bibliophile! (lover of books). I can walk past a clothes shop without even a flinch, but give me a book shop and I get drawn towards it like a magnet. I can't walk past it without going in. But in a bookstore you won't necessarily find old books along with the new. That's what is great about Google Books. Some of them are available as ebooks, but most are available to buy from the list of different book stores. On Google books you will find all the old Classics such as The Taming of the Shrew, The Poison Bell by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and The Call of the Wild. And so many more.
So why not go and take a look? I am sure you will be browsing for hours!
This is a great site, and probably one of the best that I have found. Well worth the visit, and I am sure you will find lots of books that you will enjoy reading.
All on Google Books
Most of these books here are on Google Books. But there are so many more books for you to browse through. It is like being let loose in a library! There are books for children, from the classic Alice In Wonderland, to modern books. From self help books, to Design. And don't forget to read the preview, or should I say at least three chapters of each book first! You will be hooked. I certainly am.
Happy reading.

Google Books sounds like a fascinating site to explore. I haven’t visited it yet, but I’m certainly going to. I suspect that my visits are going to last a long time! I love the huge variety of books that can be read or obtained on the Internet.

I found this Hub really helpful and interesting. Thanks for the info! Love and peace.
Wow, I had no idea... Thanks Nell!
Sounds wonderful. I was hoping perhaps you could buy them from Google...but if it takes you to Amazon, .... sigh...
I can't shop at Amazon, because I no longer have credit cards, and they don't accept PayPal, my only means for shopping online.
Does Google Books perhaps also direct to a PayPal-friendly seller?
I was thrilled to read about Google Books when it launched a few months ago! But your hub is beautiful and informative (Google should thank you!!) Rated up all the way!
Wow! Thanks a lot for telling me this, Nell! I’m off to Google Books right now! Take care!
Thx. I'll take a look since I love books too.
Sold! I am never without a book on the go! Is this something new? Thanks...will check it out! Take care!
I had no idea this existed either. I voted this up. I just went to it. It looks amazing. I will have to tell my father, a true book lover like you, about this. Thanks so much for sharing!
Ahhhh...Nell. Always happy to see people reading more than magazines and food labels. Readers are an endangered species. Somehow, I don't know about google books, I get everything from Amazon...Thanks for this!
Hi Nell, great presentation of google Books. I took a look myself a while ago and I think you are right, this is a fantastic website. They also have a nice selection of history books that I like to read from time to time.
But I did not know about magazines.
Voted up and rated.
