Precognition definition - Knowledge of an event before it occurs.
For thousands of years mankind has been foretelling the future. Kings and Queens have, throughout history, always had a seer or a Shaman by their side to tell them whether they will win a battle, or scry with mirrors or water to let them know who was the best match in marriage. Through dream interpretation or reading the cards they have foretold the future. But what does it mean exactly?
Precognition is the ability to see into the future. But how could this be possible? Surely the future is something Out There that hasn't happened yet.
Or is it? Quantum Physicists and Scientists have been studying different ideas for a while now, and some are beginning to believe that actually, instead of Time being in a straight line from this moment to the next, they now think that maybe it is actually all happened at once and we are just at a certain point within that time. Without going into the physics of it all, this means that when we look at the clock and it says 12 o-clock, we know that in 5 minutes it will be five past the hour. On the other hand, if Time has happened all at once, then, in theory we should be able to 'see' the past and the future if we could possibly make a machine that would allow us to tap into this 'Timescape'.
So why do we see the Future?
There have been many reports over the years, in newspapers and magazines, of people, usually well educated intelligent human beings, who have stated that they have seen the future. They not only claim to have seen future events, but have in fact written them down. Some people actually send these premonitions or precognitions to the Psychic Research Society, or even store them in their bank, to prove to the world that they were telling the truth. So, how can this be? And why doesn't it happen to everybody?
I believe that we can all do this. How many times have you thought about somebody, only to see them a few hours later? Maybe that is telepathy. Or is it?
That is just an example, but if we want to study this properly, then we have to rule out other ideas, whether they are psychic ideas or everyday occurrences. So, to predict seeing a friend we will say it is telepathy.
But what happens if you dream about an Earthquake taking place in Mexico, on the 5th of January 2012, and then it happened? How on earth would you explain that? Was it coincidence. Surely not, especially if you have the day and time exactly right.
No need for a Chrystal Ball!
De'ja vu.
The trouble is, unless you actually document your dreams, or even day dreams, when the incident occurs you may actually have de'ja vu. We have all had this occurrence at some time or another. We feel that we have been to a particular City or building before. In fact we are so certain, we then go on to believe it must involve reincarnation. We know we haven't visited that place in this life time, so therefore it must have happened in a previous lifetime. Scientists now believe that this happens because of how our brain works. Evidently if we see something for the first time, chemicals in the brain can actually make us 'see' it a second time. Therefore we believe that we have been there before.
But then again, that can only explain the fact that you think you recognise the place. It doesn't explain the fact that, how on earth did I know there was a room at the back of the building painted pink?! But I am getting off the subject!

Precognition or Imagination?
Unless this subject is studied more, we can only guess at how accurate it actually is. I know that, even though I am a sceptical person, and I am prone to dissecting every bit of information that I cannot understand, and even more so, making sure that it has a scientific explanation, I am aware of the fact that this has happened to me. A lot.
My Experiences.
Years ago, I fell asleep and went straight into a dream concerning an aeroplane. I remember sitting in one of the seats and being aware of the fact that everybody on board was speaking Russian. This was proved even more so by the fact that the passengers were all wearing Russian style hats. I remember looking out of the plane window and seeing a hot desert beneath me. Suddenly there was an almighty bang and, when I looked up I saw a fireball shooting towards me down the aisle of the plane. The heat hit me first, and in a panic, I woke up. After getting a drink of water, I went back to sleep, only to discover the fact that I was still in exactly the same place in the dream. I remember floating outside of the plane, I am not sure if I had been thrown out, or I was encountering an out of body experience. This was followed by a surreal episode of being inside a white marble room, with very bright glowing pillars surrounding me. The victims of the plane crash were sitting on chairs facing big white tables. It looked lovely and bright, but I couldn't see where the light was coming from. It was just like being in a startlingly pure light Cathedral. I remember seeing a man, who came up to me and said, 'You can go home now, you have helped them come over, thank you'. Was that Heaven? Who knows, that's another story. But then I woke. This was on a Wednesday night.
The following week I was watching TV, and to my horror, I saw on the News that an aeroplane had blown up over Syria. It was Russian, and all on board had been killed by a fireball that was caused by the explosion ripping through the plane. This was exactly a week after my dream.
Another time, me and my friend were waiting for a bus to take us to the next town. She was in a hurry, and I turned around and said 'I don't know why you are hurrying, the bus will break down up by that corner of the street, and we will have to wait for another one'. When the bus stopped and we boarded, my friend laughed and said, 'see? we are fine'. Next second, at the exact corner, the bus came to a grinding halt and we had to change buses! In fact this particular friend was extremely used to my premonitions and in the end, nothing I did or said surprised her!
My main dream or precognition that is just coming true!
This one is going to astound you. But it is totally and completely true to such an extent even I am gobsmacked!
For the last twenty years I have had a reacurring dream. This dream has been so dominant in my mind that twenty years ago, after dreaming over and over the same thing, I actually got the incident published in a psychic magazine. I even received a letter afterwards from a lady who relayed her own story to me concerning a similar dream.
In my dream I am travelling to a different Country in the UK. I wasn't sure whether I was heading towards Scotland or Wales. I am in a Coach and I know that the town or City I am going too, is going to become part of my life. I am never sure if I live there or are just visiting.
The town is by the ocean, and is dominated by a great Castle. To the left of the castle is the old part of town, mainly grey slate coloured buildings, and the new town was farther back. I am aware of visiting and staying with somebody, but I never see who it is. The town becomes so familiar to me that I know it as much as the town that I really live in. I know the streets, the layout of the Castle, and even the different events that go on. This dream has taken over my night for 20 years.
Recently my son has met a girl online. They have been 'dating' for about five months now. She has invited my son to stay with her, and it looks like they will eventually live together.
The town?
Caernarfon Gwynedd North Wales.
By the sea. Dominated by a Huge Castle! What more can I say? This is still the beginning. Is it the same place? Will it be the town that I have dreamt about for the last 20 years? Who knows. But I can't wait to find out!
Oh, I forgot to say, he will be travelling by coach!

So Where does this leave us?
In Einsteins Theory of Special Relativity, Einstein believed that time was not as human beings see it. He believed that time could be stretched or shrunk, all depending on whether you were going very fast or very slow. This was his main study into time travel. Einstein was sure that one day it would be physically possible to travel into the future or the past. Surely the only way that this is possible is if Time as we know it is completely wrong. We could travel backwards or forwards in time only if it had happened all at once. Of course there is the other theory that if we did travel through time, then we would not actually travel back to 'our' time, but another dimension that was either behind us, or in front of us in time. But once again, that's another story!
So taking into consideration all the details of scientists, and seers, scientists who study and only believe when they can see the proof in front of them, and seers who can actually see the future without any proof, where does this leave us?
All I can say is that, Time, like everything else in the Universe, is a strange and tantalising fact. The only problem is that we don't know what that fact is! Maybe one day we will find out. And that day will be wondrous indeed!

Is this just a coincidence? What about the plane crash? Or even the bus? These are just a few experiences that I have had. Maybe it is all in my mind. But can that be true of the many other people who have had this experience? Will we ever know the truth about Precognition. I don't know.

Hi Nell, you sure do have some interesting dreams! I believe that really there is no such thing as linear time, and that everything is actually happening at the same time, but that we are generally just tuned into this particular point in the story. I think that quantum physics is already proving that what we regard as the real world is not as solid as we think it is. Dream on, lady!

Great one as usual Nell. What I can quickly remember, one thing that has often happened to me in my regular life is this: When I talk to somebody and there is a TV or a radio turned on in the background, sometimes when I say a sentence, I hear the main word from my sentence repeated immediately by someone on the TV or the radio. It really doesn't look like I notice it only because I just used it in my sentence. These words are sometimes not that usual.
Superb hub, Nell, and I wholeheartedly believe in various forms of precognition. There is so much we do not know, in addition to the parts of our minds that are asleep and unused, so to speak. You have had fascinating experiences, and I think we can all relate on a certain level. Nicely done!
Great hub, Nell! As an open minded skeptic myself, I know that strange, unexplainable things happen sometimes. Some say if science can't explain it, it does not exist but I believe we just don't have the capacity to know and explain it yet. We're getting there though.
We have many "odd" stories in our family too. A quick one that comes to mind is of the recurring dream variety. I dreamt I was in my van traveling backwards at increasing speed, constantly looking back through the rear windows trying to steer the metal beast. When I put the brakes on, the car would not stop.
After each dream occurrence, I questioned my husband about the brakes on my car. (I know nothing about car mechanics.) He said they were fairly new so not to worry. The dream continued to occur. One day while rotating my tires, he inspected the brakes and discovered an unusual problem with the rears. He said it was likely they would have failed. He fixed them and I never had the dream again.(Enter "Twilight Zone" theme song here.)LOL!
Hi Nell, This subject is captivating, being beyond our ability to understand (or some of us anyway). I'm scared of premonitions and always scared of some dreams. But what I realy wanted to say is that, in my opinion, time is not linear (if such thing as time IS at all). It probably had dimensions that we cannot yet imagine. Your article is mind stimulating. Voted up and awesome, I do believe there is something to this too. One specific event was getting a niece of my husbands on my mind one evening and I even told him about it and my odd feeling of why this would be, I rarely saw her, she was thirteen and I was busy with two toddlers so you tell me why this would be? She was killed the very next day in front of her grandparent's house in a car accident. There have been other things but that stands out most since I have to wonder if I had listened to a voice could I have saved this from happening?

The really big questions in life.Reading "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch, and God is trying to explain to us that when we pass, we will instantly have leaps and bounds in our understanding, including the subject of space and time, which he says everything is happening now. I am probably less skeptical than you. I seem to have few boundaries in my imagination these days, cause I have finally chosen to let it be.Have learned the imagination is the key to our hearts and our hearts are the key to our souls and our souls connect to the spirits of other souls. How can we see the future if it has not yet happened? That is not possible...unless everything that ever was is, and everything that will ever be was. I don't want to believe in this sort of thing but have had similar dreams myself. Sometimes I think that I don't remember my dreams on purpose because, for a while there, too many of them were coming pretty close to true and it was weird.

Nell, I believe you have a gift. How else can you explain this phenomenal dream lasting twenty years. For a long time, i had a reoccurring dream, i was always on my way to work, and i would get lost, usually on a muddy road, sometimes i would finally find the hospital (where i worked ) but couldn't open the door. Go figure? I have every book written about Edgar Cayce, he also had the gift. Thank you for sharing. Very intriguing indeed.

Hm, I also thought that deja-vu is related to a past life (I'm a strong believer in reincarnation), however I've also read somewhere that it can happen when we are spaced out and tired. It's something to do with the lag in the brain to process what we see and give it back to us. The reincarnation explanation does seem more appealing to me :)
Btw, got goosebumps from your dream, it's hauntingly beautiful, especially if it's a precog kind of dream.
I usually tend to believe that everything has a scientific explanation, just to make sure I'm not drifting away from reality. However, my mother dreamed that I'll score 6.60 points out of 10 in sports class in highschool two days before the test. I remember I laughed as much as I laughed when I saw the scores two days later :) Anyway, this one and few other similar personal situations sometimes make me think that this could in fact be science that we don't understand yet.
Nell, I have had premonitions many times. They have stopped me from getting a speeding ticket a few times.lol
That's too weird on the airplane, Nell! I have these experiences too but everyone always makes fun of mine. Oh well - I sometimes get the 'thing' right but then dream it happens to someone else. Like the time my friend's dog ate a mushroom and almost died - but I had the dream that MY dog ate something and was dying. It happened the very same day - wrong dog but right dream. I would make a lousy early warning person I guess! Great piece!

I always think that believing in everything is way more fun than believing in nothing - and as long as you don't take it to extremes and turn it into a cult or anything - what does it hurt? I am very much interesting and believing in that subject. I had several tarot card reading and a some came true. Some are really good at it. I know there is lot of scamming out there about it but there a small few who know and can do it. I too had a few premonition which came true.

Hi Nell. This is a very interesting subject. I have often seen events occurring before they happened, usually concerning family members. The first time this happened to me it was quite startling. For instance, when one day my son said he was going out to play catch with his friends, I saw his lips swollen and bleeding. He came home about half an hour later with a swollen, bleeding upper lip because the football hit him in the mouth. I felt guilty that I did not warn him. Since then, I have learned to trust my instincts (or is it intuition?).
I also believe in reincarnation and know of several past lives and the people I was close to in those lives.
Have you read "Science of the Soul"? I have that book on my wish list. Till now science has seen life in a linear mode. It seems science is now rethinking about life and what many of us have known all along.

Nell, do you ever find yourself having to block (psychically) images/knowledge of coming events or what may have already happened in an unsolved crime, like a missing person?
In one such case (missing person) the case is not yet solved. There are several people in a forum discussing the case and what they think happened, who was involved and where the missing person can be found.
I know (this may be telepathic?) that one person involved in the discussion in the forum is not telling the truth and is mis-leading the others and is not who she says she is. I am staying out of the discussion because I would only add to the confusion.
The clairvoyant who is trying to help is being side tracked by the person who sought her help -- yet the clairvoyant is standing her ground on what she sees.
I think a discussion like that could really throw investigators off if they see the information coming through -- OR they could maybe see one more suspect in the discussion, namely the seeker. (Personally, I feel the seeker is actually the missing girl.)
How would you handle a situation like this? Stay out of it, or privately message the clairvoyant?
Hi, Phyllis, I did have one big psychic thing happen to me years ago, I will write about it one of these days, and I was right in everything said! I told loads of people and they said go to the police, I would have done, but they found the person before I got to the police station, as for the forum, which one is it? I was trying to find it, but not sure which one it is, I am fascinated now!

Terrific hub Nell, I find this a very interesting hub. I have had one reaccuring dream, which stopped when my dream came true. The other was like a movie screen, in broad daylight, right in front of my face like a television. This occured 20 mins before the incident happened. Both times lives were saved. My husbands and myself. I am always searching for explanations on why?

I once read or heard that all humans possess the skill of prophet or precognition, but they lay dormant because of non use. Exceptional hub Ms. Rose, peace to you and yours. Voted up, marked useful, awesome and beautiful.
Most of you will not believe me, but the reason why i started searching the web about this, is because about a week ago, while driving back to home i had this horrible feeling and sensation that something very very terrible is going to happen that is going to kill thousands,it was the first time i had that feeling in my entire life to the point that i had to stop my car because i was afraid i would have a heart attack..that was 6 hours before tsunami hit japan...i couldn't believe it once i saw the news..anybody else had the same experience? please, i really need to know.

Back in the 80s I was sleeping one night, and all of a sudden I shot awake and heard a terrific noise. I felt as if the world was coming to an end. I couldn't breath. it took me a while to come around and when I did I looked out of the window. I was surprised to see that everything was as it should be. The next day I told a friend that I believed that there had been a nuclear explosion, in fact I thought it was near where I lived. it wasn't, it was Chernobyl! somehow in the quiet of the night, I had either 'heard' it, somehow, or as you did, I saw it coming, maybe one day we will understand why. This is one of the reasons why I am so interested in this subject, thanks again nell

As much as I understand this subject based on my own experiences, still, I can't explaining it either. But Islam taught similar idea with Einstein: what we experiences as past, present and future, is happening at the same time in God's sight. He see everything at the same time, how we used our free will, what we ask or what we need in global and this is how He decided our colliding fate. Beautiful Hub, Nell, like always. ^^

I have had dreams which have come true within the day, inlcuding one about a girl reported missing on the news. I had a terrifying dream, where I saw her floating in the river. I told several people about this, before she was discovered the next day, in the river, exactly as in my dream. I have had other dreams, which have proven to be true. I think most people have had such experiences, although science does not recognise these experiences.

Ha Ha well Nell A year ago I did a little experiment and in the last year I have met 25 to 30 different ones, and I have to say I am not a skeptic anymore. So yes I believe in what you're saying. Of course my christian friends were not happy about this, but fortunately I think this, and learning about all religions basically gave me a better understanding about the spirit world and God. The science that you mentioned are just theories and they all lack the Grand Unified Theory, while the rules of quantum mechanics work for subatomic particles, they do not apply to larger formations. Einstein and the classical physicists sought a universal equation that would work for all facets of the universe’s creation.
I think that Deja Vu and Precognition are just radom events that just so happen to fit a current scenario. But if you factor in several billion people in the world some times the circumstances just fit.
Deja Vu could also be a result of the brain taking in information and then having a delayed processing time in some individuals. So in a fraction of a second the you don't realize that it looks familar because you actually did see it but the processing makes it feel like it was a recalled memory of some greater time period than a fraction of a second.
As for time and time travel, I don't see how it is possible. Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity is just that Relative. He is also talking about Space and Time.
Real time travel would keep you in the same dimension and the same physical place. So the question to answer is where is the universe saved tick by tick that it would still exists when going back in time. Going into the future fits no real purpose. By definition the Future has happened.
String Theory has about a dozen dimensions so that it can account for things that can't be connected by other theories. It is like a highway that needs bridges to connect it as a useful roadway. So a bridge (a dimension) is added to fill the gap.
The better question is that if I am wrong about this and the scientists are correct, then what difference does it make to us here on Earth?

This is all very hard to explain but I definitely believe in it and it all goes hand in hand with belief in an afterlife. Even wrote a hub on that subject. Dying people often "see" others who have already died...but living people who are not near death also have visions. The weirdest experience that ever happened to me happened EXACTLY at the same time to my mother. We were up late talking and both of us "saw" a young woman sitting quietly in the room with us. Then poof...she was gone. We each described her perfectly to one another. She was a young Hispanic woman. We will never know for certain who she was, but we both had the idea that she was a child that had grown and one in whom we had been worried. This set our minds at ease. We felt that she was dead...but now OK and at peace and happy. So put me in your believer but scratching my head to understand camp. Voted up!

I began searching this topic because of occurrences that are taken place at my new place of employment. I not only feel I have been here but in several areas not just one. Today I was walking down a stepping stone path and can reflect these memories like I was here yesterday but yet have never seen this at all. I had even went as far as asking my mother during my youth have I ever been to this place. I have heard many (especially my grandmother) reflect on these occurrences being a warning. Does anyone know why I would be seeing several items or events unfold that feel like direct memories from a past that I know I have never visited?

Hi, Kathy, thanks for reading it, there are so many ideas out there that can explain this. The one that crops up the most is Deja'vu, which scientifically explained means that, somehow your brain 'sees' the place or object, then repeats it so quickly, you actually believe you have been there, or seen it before. This does make sense, however, in my case, and in many other people around the world, we actually dream of the place weeks or even months before it happens. This can't be Deja'Vu because the pattern doesn't fit in with the scientific reasoning. How this works, I have no idea, but as I have written, I dreamt of the place above, for about twenty years, and now my son has moved there! I won't know whether its exactly the same until I visit, but by the postcards and looking it up online, it certainly seems the same. I have experienced many other things like this over the years too. Maybe one day scientists will explain it, until then we can put it down to, seeing the future, or even 'seeing' back into a past life, hope this helps.

Nell, my precognitive dreams usually aren't as spot on as yours on the Russian plane, but one did turn out to be *sort of* a premonition of the tornado that hit my hometown. In my dream the "tornado" was an airliner coming from the southwest that crashed and tore up the same part of town struck by a tornado 12 hours later. (Tornadoes historically strike the southwest edge of a town first.)
Another time didn't involve a dream at all. At the time I was managing a club (bar/pub) located in the basement of a small town hotel. On the way to work one day I stopped at a store similar to Wal-Mart to buy some personal items, and on the way to check out there was a bin of purse-size flashlights (the kind that have a wrist loop) for $1 each. For no reason I could fathom at the time I bought TEN. Also, instead of leaving them in my car, I stashed them behind the bar. Several hours later when the club was full of people, a thunderstorm knocked out the power. It wasn't the kind of place with candles on the table, so we were in total darkness. While customers "flicked their Bics", I calmly handed each of the waitresses one of the flashlights and the rest we thumbtacked by the loops to the several support posts and over doorways. Not the same as regular lighting, but enough illumination that people could move around safely until the power came back on an hour or so later. When my boss asked what possessed me to buy so many flashlights that very day, all I could say was "I don't know...just seemed like a good idea at the time".
I and the Love of My Life did have, with minor variations, nearly the same precognitive dream one night that described the where and how he would die, but it wouldn't come to pass until 25+ years later and would take an entire hub to explain.

this is a great & well-written article .. i also have had premonitions .... whenever i see one it seems to me like a déjà vu ....we always term things,like these 'fictional' which are unexplained by science, but i firmly believe that premonitions are true.

I have had premonitions in the past. I once had a bad dream that my house caught on fire, and 2 weeks later a fuse box shorted out and started a fire. Another night, I had a dream in the middle of the night that my mom and stepdad had been in a car accident. The next morning, I found out they had been in a car accident on their way to Florida.

Hello Nell, This and all the comments following, was very interesting. Unfortunately, unless someone is very gifted (and even then) you can't know it was precognition until the event happens. Usually, all you can do is say " that was an odd though/dream." Only later can you connect the thought or dream. It continues to be a strange and (usually) wonderful world we live in with mysteries to explore and solve. This was a great hub!

Nell, I love your articles. You have a way of getting your point across from a very distant point of view, allowing your readers to take it all in with a grain of salt.
From what you explain here, it sounds like you have abilities to fortell the future, which most of the time is a great thing. I do believe that Science will eventually come to an agreement with spirituality and the world will understand the things we perceive. It's true that Deja Vu, Astral Projection, Orbs, Apparitions, and Clairvoyance have been labeled in the scientific world as having a reason for happening, but my question is... does that arrest the importance or possibility of its Spiritual counterpart? So what if there is something called Sleep Paralysis... does the fact that it has a physical explanation take away the spiritual journey of the soul? If so, how can they prove it?
I've always thought that our own Spirit Guides are very much alive in other dimensions, and who knows... maybe they're able to see us in the form of a Spirit guide as well. Maybe they're nothing but reincarnations we've had (or better said, are having) and that's the reason why we are so close to them, being able to communicate whenever our minds quiet down enough to make that connection possible. There are many "what if's" out there. I'm just throwing some of these at you, because I think you and I are on the same wavelength.

Something one must consider always: Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence. There is exactly zero extraordinary evidence to any extraordinary claim of backwards time travel. Now I do need to point out that a many-worlds theory could permit backward time travel, but ONLY if the reverse travel does not land in the same time-line. I am also aware of the maths involved with quantum physics being time-reversible. But that is not evidence of macroscopic time travel. Although relativity demands that time is part of space-time and as such can shrink and grow, this is in concert with space and backwards time travel is especially excluded by the finite upper limit of signalling. No signal can pass the speed of light (otherwise it means backwards time travel). Quantum effects like tunnelling only appear to involve time travel because of naive explanations (when you consider the entire wave function nothing is especially amiss). To see into the future, you need to travel there first (very possible), and then send a signal back. (Not possible). OK - I also know that there is serious research to make a time-machine but that's limited by two major points. 1) return signals from the future could in theory only return to instants after the machine was turned on. 2) There is no working prototype. Until there is, there is no evidence of time travel. Even those pesky neutrinos that appeared to pass the speed of light actually behaved as per SR/GR. It was just a faulty cable.
The human brain is very capable of acquiring false memory and this can appear to the owner of the brain as premonition. In a world with trillions of events every day, coincidence not only can happen, it must happen, and with such a high number of events and our ability to communicate so fast, some extraordinary coincidences MUST happen. In fact if they did not, this would actually be really big news in the scientific community as it would undermine a fundamental property of statistics on random events.
I do believe there is a delay between unconscious human-brain-computation and actual concious awareness. In a sense this is really pre-cognition but it's only been measured for short times. (Not minutes - only second or sub second or thereabouts).
The only way that you could see into the future is to live in a delayed recording of the future. Then it would be possible for an event in that future to be dropped into the recording. This is actually how clicks and pops are removed from poor audio recordings. A click is read before it would be played, then the electronics insert a bit of dead-silence at the point where the click would be reproduced.
No - I am totally unconvinced of premonition or pre-cognition of any significant time and in the macro world. There is no evidence for it. Granted - weird stuff goes on at the quantum level but that is in my opinion most likely due to an incomplete theory.
Telepathy? A tiny chance there Nell as it's mildly plausible that one human brain could emit something that another could pick up, but again there is no evidence. Every single controlled experiment that removes all bias shows telepathy is not observed. The problem with any brain-wave theory for telepathy is the extraordinary weakness of the signals.
Great hub though Nell. I know there are a lot of people 100% convinced but not me. :-) At least from a pure scientific side. However, the artistic and imaginative side is perfectly happy to play in this sandpit. I really don't want to discourage it because sometimes, the path between two possibilities is only available via something impossible. Without that imagination and play, we would be severely limited. To that end, I know that some serious scientists and physicists no longer automatically dismiss some of these fringe ideas.

Our brains do the strangest things sometimes, but saying that, I do know that these events happened. I am a person who would rather see the scientific side, so if there is a rational explanation then thats great. Scientists are looking into this sort of thing, in fact after watching Down the rabbit hole/what the bleep it seems that atoms are fascinating little things. They can be manipulated by thought, and various other methods, take the 'blessed water' scenario for example. The atoms changed shape because of 'good thoughts' I do believe that at this time scientists know as much as they can about time travel, and precognition. As you mentioned, the neutrinos didn't go faster than the speed of sound, which was quite disappointing, but maybe dark matter, or something else will explain it. There are scientists who believe in the 'all in one go' method of how the universe has happened. Maybe thats the answer. If everything has happened in 'one go' and not linear then precognition would be explainable. As for Telepathy, I know that works, how? I have no idea. All I know is that it has happened to me and various other people I know. That could be put down as saying, well, you know the person well so you know there moves, and when they will phone you, for example. I agree, but what about knowing you are going to see someone within the next few hours that you haven't seen for years? I forgot to say that Telepathy isn't a good thing for studying. It has to be a random thought process, and can't be brought on by being in a lab. My gran was in her kitchen when she heard her son, my uncle scream mum, and she saw a bright light. Up until that point she was fine in fact having a laugh with the rest of her family. Yes she was worried about her son, he was a pilot in the war, so it goes without saying that she would worry, but this particular time she looked up, saw a bright light and distinctly heard her son yell mum. She knew before the knock on the door that he had died. She was inconsolable, so maybe it has to be something like that to get it to work.

Hi Nell, With "what about knowing you are going to see someone within the next few hours that you haven't seen for years?" It's extremely likely that the brain thinks about these events very often and promptly forgets them - just like a dream, but when that person shows up it cements the memory and seems like a huge coincidence or premonition- same story with the pilot.
Hi jirel, I think we have so many dreams and thoughts, its difficult to imagine which ones are real precognitions. I think the best idea is to write them down the second you get them and then check them against the facts later, obviously if it happens months later it could just be coincidence, but if its a few hours then I would think it is a precogntion, thanks for reading, cheers nell
