The Royal Wedding Prince William and Princess Catherine a day to remember

At 11 am on the 29th April 2011, Kate Middleton walked down the aisle with Prince William. And what a day to remember.

Kate, looking very nervous but keeping a calm facade managed to walk into History without one step out of place. The Royal Wedding has been publicised for so many months now, and we all waited in trepidation to see if anything would go wrong, or would the weather be fine? But much more importantly, the Dress. What would it be like? Who would be the designer?

Well I think the whole world now knows that it was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. It has a lace applique bodice and skirt, with veil. Kate also wore a tiara and her hair was left tumbling down. She looked beautiful walking down the aisle.

Prince William also looked very handsome in the red tunic of the Irish Guards. His choice to marry in this uniform disappointed his friends and colleagues from the Royal Air Force. But there was a good reason for this choice. William hoped to boost the moral of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards who are currently serving in Helmand Province Afghanistan. The Queen is also preparing to visit Ireland, so it is believed that this was a good diplomatic move.

Catherine Middleton will now be officially known as Princess William. This follows in the traditions of past Royal Weddings. But this won't be for long. official sources believe that the Queen will give permission for her to be called Princess Catherine. The million plus crowds around Buckingham Palace would agree. They are already calling her Princess Catherine.

They will also been known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Arriving in a Rolls Royce Phantom VI, Kate Middleton first emerged into the sunshine at 10.51 precisely. You couldn't really see her Wedding Dress as she climbed into the car, but as the sun shone through the windows of the car, we could just see the outline of the lace on her shoulders and arms. Prince William arrived separately in a 20.4 ft Bentley which had been presented to the Queen at her Silver Jubilee. As kate arrived at Westminster Abbey, to the cheers of the crowds she emerged from the car and the beauty of her dress was shown for the first time. Surprisingly it wasn't a elaborate dress, in fact it was quite simple. But that was the beauty of it. It totally suited her. The Train was only 8ft long, but was perfect. As she walked up the 300ft aisle, it pulled behind her like an Ivory wave, skimming the red carpet, and hovering just slightly above the ground.

Flowers from Windsor Great Park, Sandringham Estate and trees over 20ft high adorned the Abbey. These included six English Field Maples and Two Hornbeam's. Kate held a bouquet of Lily of the Valley, which follows the 'Language of Flowers', a code made popular by Queen Victoria. The Choir of Westminster Abbey sang along side the Choir of Her Majesty's Chapel Royal. Along with the London Chamber Orchestra, there was also The Fanfare Team from the Central Band of the RAF. Not forgetting The State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry. Kate Middleton did not go for the traditional Obey, but chose a Traditional Church of England Liturgy, taken from the 1928 Prayer Book.

As the service came to a close, the 1,000 year old bells of the Abbey rang out in a full peal for over three hours. Each sound of the bells peal is completely different, not one is exactly the same. Amazing. After leaving the Abbey, the Royal couple climbed aboard the State Landau Carriage, and made their way back to Buckingham Palace. The crowds were going wild, cheering, waving flags and just having the time of their lives. With the Horse Guards following, the Royal couple waved to the cheering people and headed back to take a breather inside the Palace before emerging an hour later on the balcony for the traditional Royal gathering. The crowds waved and screamed in earnest, 'Kiss Kiss Kiss' before William, with a big grin leaned towards Kate and gave the crowd what they wished for. In fact he did it twice!

A wonderful moment happened a few minutes later when, gazing at the sky, the crowds and Royals alike were given a Royal Fly Past. First of all a Wellington bomber, a Spitfire, and a Hurricane flew past, and then the roar was heard as two Tornado's and two Typhoons followed closely behind.

After the Kiss, Kate and William went back inside for the Wedding Breakfast with the Queen, Prince Philip and the rest of the Royal family, including foreign dignitaries. The crowds continued to party and sing, waiting for the moment when Prince William again emerged to drive back to Clarence House.To the surprise of the onlookers, William drove his Fathers Aston Martin Volante, with Just Wed as the reg number!

From the entrance of the guests to Westminster Abbey, to Kate and William walking down the aisle, it has been a spine tingling day. I never cry at weddings, but I must admit to thinking about Princess Diana and feeling how proud she would have been. Prince William looks so much like her, it does tend to choke you slightly. I am sure she would have loved every minute of it. I, like everybody else in England, moan about the politics of the situation, people having no money, jobs being lost etc, but when I watched the Royal Wedding today, and saw all the people waving flags, having parties and just oohing and aahing at Kate's lovely dress, I must admit I felt very proud to be English.

When we do it we do it well. Congrats William and Kate, you did us proud.

On a lighter note, much lighter in fact, a Vicar got so carried away, he cartwheeled down the red carpet! Take a look! Evidently this video is going viral, in other words, around the world quickly, to you and me!
